Civic Leadership & Advocacy

This program cultivates youth who are informed, strategic, and fearless. We prepare young leaders who can speak at city hall, organize their schools, mobilize their neighborhoods, and represent their communities with pride.

COMPONENTS

Group photo of people standing in front of a blue wall with the seal of the City of San Diego, California, flags, and smiling for the camera.
  • We help youth understand how government and public systems work—so they know where decisions are made and how change really happens.

  • Young people learn how to organize, speak up for issues they care about, and turn concerns into collective action for their community.

  • We train youth to share their stories with confidence—so their voices are heard in classrooms, communities, and public spaces.

  • Participants lead real projects that solve local problems, building leadership through hands-on service and teamwork.

  • We teach youth why civic participation matters and how democracy works—empowering them to be informed, responsible citizens when they’re eligible to vote.

  • We open pathways into public service, helping youth imagine themselves as the leaders, advocates, and changemakers their communities need.
